I travel to Egypt once a year and so far, have never grown tired of the place. I guess my inspiration came from Dr. Zahi Hawas and his fabulous programs on the Discovery channel. satellite TV is more than entertainment, it’s a window of opportunity to plan a number of trips with specifics things I want to see.
The first stop is a three to five day stay in Cairo for multiple visits to the Egyptian Museum, Giza Plateau, and local mixing and mingling. Anybody headed for Egypt should plan their itinerary to ensure you get more than one trip through the museum as the exhibits could never be fully appreciated with just one walk through. The next leg on the tour is a one hour flight to Luxor and board the Nile cruise ship for a five night drift through antiquity.
Luxor’s Valley of the Kings and Queens, the Luxor Museum, temples, monuments and just hanging out with the locals. Nothing fancy, the simple life in Luxor is the most relaxing activity and I would not have it any other way. No nightclubs, no casinos, no stress or worry, Luxor is the place to be to chill out and renew your mind with history and culture. The Nile cruise terminates in Aswan, then it’s a short flight back to Cairo for the finale farewell. Even though I know I shall return, it’s a gut wrenching feeling to have to board that plane home.Guest post from: Joe Castro
